BUMS looks back at the last few months of 2022 and forward to 2023

BUMS had various events throughout the year, showcasing live music, conferences and art exhibitions.

BARROW Underground Music Society has unveiled plans for 2023.

2022 was a very tough year for everyone but thanks to the massive support from our VIP’s, members, dedicated team, bands and dj’s we managed to end on a real high.”

In the last couple of months BUMS hosted the Barrow Music Conference in the main room and thanks to Barrow Music Week, Electric Fiction performed their very first gig.

The Institutes, Band in Dystopia, Insula, Mark Pratts Band, Prater Monks, Bridge the Divide and Octopus Montage all took full advantage of the in-house sound system and delivered ‘world class performances’ on the intimate stage.

Thanks to regular guest DJ Dribbler and some of the VIP’s B.U.M.S new merchandise has been seen all over the world, photographed at festivals and been featured on Cafe Del Mar and Pikes flyer’s in Ibiza.

“DJ wise we have been spoilt with all day parties and some very special nights being delivered by SUB:Stance, Furness Underground and the two new nights BEAT MODE and Juicy Fruit.”

Between Christmas and New Year we were proud to support local artists The Boy Melancholy, Bea Kilduff and Charlotte Curtis with their Exhibition ‘People Like Us’ which brought a brilliant group of people into the venue for their first time.

The next planned art exhibition is for the Spring Equinox on March 20&21 2023.

January and February is spent in hibernation at BUMS to allow the club to be spruced up and prepared for the spring season.

At the beginning of March there will be a celebration of International Women’s Day featuring an all female line up on Saturday 11th of March.

Juicy Fruit with DJ Naomi Carole and DJ Justice & Friends BEAT MODE and SUB:Stance will get the dance floor moving again in March.

Local record label Seahouse Records will be showcasing their talented live roster at the venue on the 25th March.

April 2023 brings a Yorkshire treasure of a band Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip are headlining on Saturday the 8th. “My favourite track of the last decade” said, no less than, Iggy Pop! of Mik’s song of hope ‘Sweet Leaf Of The North’.

On May 13th Ian McNabb of the Icicle Works returns to Barrow Underground Music Society to celebrate his “Love is a wonderful colour” 40th anniversary tour.

More shows will be announced soon including brand new local talent and out of town up and coming stars.
